Shelburne Farms & Burlington, Vermont Winter Guide 2020
Our final day in Burlington, Vermont was mostly spent at Shelburne Farms since many places are closed on Christmas Eve. I absolutely loved visiting the Shelburne Farms resident Swiss cows and sampling their farmstead cheddar cheese. Afterwards, we headed over to Lake Champlain Chocolate factory in Burlington, Vermont before heading back to the hotel for the evening. You can check out the YouTube video to see the day in action! For more information, keep reading on below.
Shelburne Farms
Shelburne Farms is a fantastic nonprofit organization that educates visitors on creating a more sustainable future. The property is vast with trails that span its entirety as well as an inn that overlooks Lake Champlain. There are opportunities to sample some of the local farmstead cheddar cheese made from their Swiss cows and visit different parts of the farm. At Shelburne Market, a variety fresh produce items are available to purchase including cider and maple syrup. This is a picturesque farm with abundant activities and learning opportunities for visitors of any age.
Lake Champlain Chocolate Factory
Lake Champlain Chocolate Factory invites visitors to sample and enjoy their decadent truffles. There is a cafe inside that also serves up hot cocoa and sipping chocolate. A guided tour here takes you through the entire chocolate making process from bean to truffle. I also recommend trying the Spicy Aztec chocolate bar. It is a perfect blend of dark chocolate, pumpkin seeds, cayenne and cinnamon. Try it in the cocoa form as well.
Pho Dang Vietnamese Cafe
After all the cold and sweets, a little savory and spice is needed. This casual Vietnamese restaurant in Winooski offers a nice warm bowl of pho or coconut curry. There are also a bunch of great broken rice platters and vermicelli bowls to enjoy. The perfect end to a winter day in my opinion.
This sums up my quick adventure to Vermont. The rest of the time was spent relaxing as it was Christmas Eve. Once again, if youβre looking for more details or visuals, check out the vlog here. Happy travels!
