Woodstock, Vermont Winter Guide 2020
Christmas in Vermont is a magical time and I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with you over the course of the week! My first stop in Vermont was dedicated to the cozy town of Woodstock. When I first hear of Woodstock, I envision music festivals in New York. This Woodstock in Vermont is quite different from that image. Envision sloping roads nestled between mountains and valleys. There are a variety of picturesque corners and covered bridges to wander through. Continue reading below for some of my wintry Woodstock, Vermont suggestions.
Quintessential Covered Bridges
There are four covered bridges along the Ottauquechee River that you will witness when driving around Woodstock. They include the Quechee, Taftsville, Middle and Lincoln Covered Bridges. On our trip, we stopped by all four and I was able to spend some time walking along the Middle Covered Bridge before heading over to Main Street.
Woodstock Farmers’ Market
Who would have thought that an eggplant and a fish would make for such a seamless logo? Woodstock Farmers’ Market is a emporium filled with fresh produce, locally tapped maple syrup, gourmet cheese, beer, wine and more. The best part is that Woodstock Farmers’ Market serves great bakery goods and prepared takeaway dinners for the surrounding community. This market packs a punch and carries a lot of great food connoisseur finds for anyone looking for something unique to take home.
Shopping on Main Street
Primrose Garden
This gift shop is housed in a former fire station over the most magical babbling brook. Upon entering we were greeted by the sweetest shop owner who suggested that we head out to the back patio. Here you can take a penny and make a wish among the treasures that overlook the stream. Quite honestly this was the best way to start a birthday trip to date. I highly recommend checking out this unique gem.
the Yankee Bookshop
For book lovers, the Yankee Bookshop is an oasis of knowledge and culture. This independently owned bookstore curates a wide selection of books worth perusing. In addition, there are a variety of stationary gifts, greeting cards and other trinkets sprinkled around to browse over.
Who is Sylvia?
This unique vintage store is akin to walking through a time capsule filled with memories of long ago. You can browse through gorgeous designer items from decades past and gain inspiration or even find something worth taking home.
These are only a handful of suggestions but there are plenty of other great stores and restaurants to explore in the area. As the sun set, we headed to Burlington to rest but I would have loved to spend more time exploring Woodstock and the other neighboring towns.
