Soft Glam and Amrezy Highlighter Review - Anastasia Beverly Hills

img_4347.jpg

Hey Loves, I decided to review the recently released Soft Glam Palette, Amrezy Highlighter and Powder Bronzer from Anastasia Beverly Hills! I have had a couple weeks to play around with the collection and I can confirm this is my favorite palette and I will consistently be reaching for it all year round. As a fan of the Modern Renaissance palette released a few years ago, I must say I was initially sad to see so many repeat shades in the new Soft Glam palette. However, I honestly don't mind as those are some great shades that I find myself reaching for regardless. As for the Amrezy highlighter, I almost passed on it because I thought I had something similar in collection. Thankfully, my best friend encouraged me to check it out because it is NOT like anything I have and I'll tell you why below! Please be sure to see my Soft Glam makeup tutorial here!

Soft Glam Palette

The shadows are buttery as usual but have a lot of kickback in the pans. This is forgivable as the shadows are just as pigmented as the usual shadows from Anastasia. With so many versatile nudes, peachy oranges and pinks, this is the perfect palette for travel or a deserted island. Every shade is stunning and the shimmers are so pigmented and creamy for easy application and blending with no fallout.

There are fourteen essential shades and I think that they look flattering on a variety on skin tones. Lately I have been going for more muted looks and tend to go for Orange Soda, Burnt Orange or Sienna followed by Cyprus Umber. I typically finish the look with a shimmer on the center of my lid; usually Fairy.

Shades

The shades are listed below as described on the website:

Tempera: Ultra-matte velvety beige Glistening: Iridescent gold with a hint of pink reflect Orange Soda: Ultra-matte pastel peach Rose Pink: Rose gold with a soft pink iridescent hue Sultry: A hybrid satin metallic finish warm chocolate brown Bronze: Metallic gold bronze Mulberry: Ultra-matte mulberry Dusty Rose: Ultra-matte dusty lilac Fairy: Multi-dimensional light gold Burnt Orange: Ultra-matte deep orange Sienna: Ultra-matte earthy brown Rustic: Ultra-matte deep cinnamon brown Cyprus Umber: Ultra-matte dark coffee Noir: Ultra-matte deep carbon black

Overall, I think the quality of this palette is on par with the MR palette. I think if I had to choose between the two, I would recommend the Soft Glam. There is a broader range of eye looks that can be achieved with this palette. Soft Glam is perfect for work or a glamorous night out. What more can you ask for? My only gripe is the velvety packaging on the outside. I have a hate/love relationship with it. It is a beautiful golden color but is prone to getting dirty. Since my MR palette has gotten discolored over the years, I learned to keep my Soft Glam in the box it came in. It's an extra step to take it out of the box each time but I want to keep this palette from getting as dirty as my previous one.

Amrezy Highlighter

I LOVE this highlighter. Its very sheer light brilliant gold. This highlighter can be buildable which is nice when I require a more subtle "lit from within" effect. Of course, with a denser brush I can pack on the highlight and it glows without being too chunky. The shimmer is fine and doesn't enlarge the pores on my cheekbones when compared to the Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero Highlighter Palette. This was a concern I was struggling with when using some other highlighters. This one doesn't seem to accentuate those problems and looks very natural and almost seamless. It really is like second skin and applies ultra smooth.

The packaging is so cute and I appreciate the ease of opening this compact. The mirrors are large enough for travel and can be a great companion for touch ups. One of my favorite details of the packaging is the wave that the actual powder is shaped into. It's so stunning that I don't even want to use it. (But of course, I do use this almost daily as of late.)

Powder Bronzer in Rich Amber

I purchased the bronzer in Rich Amber which is a neutral honey shade. I think that this shade is flattering on neutral medium skin tones. For reference, I am the shade Stromboli in NARS foundation. I think this bronzer is nicely pigmented. It will definitely last a long time. It isn't streaky and very easy to blend. My advice it to use a light hand as it can be easy to overdo it. This bronzer is a great compliment to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Peachy Love Blush Trio released last year. I think that each one of these products complement one another very well.

Shades

The available shades are listed below:

Rosewood - Light Golden

Tawny - light terracotta brown

Rich Amber - neutral honey

Cappuccino - Rich golden brown

Saddle - golden amber

Mahogany - Mocha

Hopefully, I'll be able to do a makeup tutorial and swatches of the products in the coming weeks. I hope this helps you if you're on the fence for any of the new ABH products. You won't be disappointed, I promise!

Love,

Christine Celine
