Florida is a massive state with hundreds of hidden gems. Rainbow Springs State Park is definitely among those lesser known places in my book. I was excited to plan a quick day trip with my cousin, Audrey (@_audtravels_), during my trip to Florida.

The best part about Rainbow Springs State Park is the crystal clear water. There are numerous springs in the area that offer these placid and temperate waters. Year-round, the water is typically around 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainbow River within the state park is a perfect spot for water sports and activities ranging from snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and swimming.

On the particular day we went, the weather was on the cooler side and we had plans with the family early in the evening so we decided to skip the river. However, I am definitely coming back in the summer to spend a full day kayaking and swimming. It is an absolute must! Instead, we walked around the various waterfalls and explored the other corners of Rainbow Springs State Park. The park also offers a campground, picnicking, hiking and a butterfly garden which blooms in the Springtime.

The state park is located at 19158 SW 81st Place Road, Dunnellon FL 34432. The headsprings is where we entered from and admission into the state park is $2 per person. The park is open 365 days a year from 8 a.m. until sunset. The tubing entrance, however, has its own specific entry fee and timings. Rentals for canoes and kayaks can vary but the prices range from about $50-60 for all day or $16-22 per hour.

After we explored, we ended up getting some nice warm bowls of pho in Ocala before heading to the Light Up Ocala Event. You can see more of this in my vlog on YouTube.
