Adventure Aquarium

I decided to play tourist in my own state. I haven't been to an aquarium in ages. It has been so long that I actually cannot recall the last aquarium but all I can remember is that I am fond of them. We visited on a weekday in the summer and it was surprisingly busy with a variety of museum goers ranging from families to summer camp field trips.

Stingray Area! You can pet them during specific times.

Exhibits Overview

There's a lot to cover in a day at Adventure Aquarium but I don't want to give away too much here. We began with petting some sting rays followed by penguins, piranhas, a hippo feeding, sharks (in a shark tunnel), a variety of fish species and even jellyfish. There was even an opportunity to walk through a net above the shark exhibit, which was pretty and provided a unique view of the sharks. The exhibits were super informative and I particularly enjoyed reading about the different aquatic species. Additionally, the museum does offer two different 3-D IMAX films included in admission. We ended up watching one that was about sharks. It was cute and informative but I do believe the other option would have been more kid-friendly and adventurous.

The Penguin Area is outdoors.

Watching the cute penguins sunbathing and swimming.

Came just in time for Hippo Feeding!

This is the smaller of the two hippos for size reference.

Food at the Marketplace

The aquarium has some great food options that include La Colombe coffee and pastries in addition to menu items from the grill and more. I was pleased to find a vegan option. We ended up sharing a Beyond Burger (a meatless burger that will dupe your carnivorous pals) complete with vegan cheese! Served with the burger were some deliciously seasoned waffle fries. I really enjoyed the quality of the food and found the bun to be a healthy option made of grain. Everything was fresh and made to order. I really enjoyed their dining options and I noticed the Marketplace was eco-friendly.

The largest shark ancestor could eat me whole!

Overall, I think that Adventure Aquarium is a great place to go with the family, your kids or even a date. There are plenty of areas to keep you occupied and lots of fun interactive areas where you can pet some animals or see the museum staff feed the animals. I hope you enjoyed my overview of Adventure Aquarium and that it makes it on your future itinerary!
