August 2019 Spotify Playlist

NIKI - Indigo*

This is one of my favorite NIKI songs this year. I absolutely love the allusions she makes in the lyrics. This song encapsulates a flirty mood with a new special someone.

Verzache -Feeling That Feel*

This song is so good. Verzache really came through with a whole new vibe on this track. I think that this sums up my August.

Dominic Fike & Kenny Beats - Phone Numbers*

Kenny Beats has been on fire lately. This song has such a great production and Dominic Fike really did a great job on the verses. I’m always dancing along to this track for sure.

Bas - Nirvana (with Falcons & B. Lewis)*

As soon as I heard this song, I may have been in Nirvana myself. I love Bas’ new EP, Spoiled Milk. Definitely give it a listen!

Simon Sea & Yeek - Planet*

This song’s production is so mellow and relaxing before it perks up. This track is perfect for those transitionary late nights with temporary faces.

Curtis Williams - Watch

I love the female vocals juxtaposed with Curtis Williams’ verses. A simple and classic hip-hop track.

Smino & Bari - SUMMER SALT

This song is a dizzy whirlwind. It’s captivating and I think the Mortal Kombat references are clever.

Jaden & Lido - K*

This song starts off slow like a ballad before gradually building up to a surprising ending. I could play the second half on loop. I might admit here that I did make a looped mp3 of this section just for that purpose.

Zack Fox & Kenny Beats - Jesus Is The One (I Got Depression)*

This song comes from the Cave series that Kenny Beats has on YouTube. This song was meant to be a joke freestyle which somehow skyrocketed to #1 on the Viral Top 50 charts on Spotify. It is hilarious and Kenny Beats really did a great job with the spontaneous freestyle beat.

JADEN & Trinidad James - Mission

“I’m on a mission.” Jaden has really come out with some great songs on ERYS and this is one that should not be skipped.

che- Crush*

I always find myself going back to Che and this song always pumps me up on my commutes to work. I highly recommend giving it a listen.

Surf - itsokay2cry*

This song has a really angsty production without being overly aggressive. It’s okay to cry, guys.

Rich Brian - Drive Safe*

I wasn’t expecting this type of ballad from Rich Brian but it is absolutely heartwarming. I think its akin to “Glow Like Dat” from a previous album.

Victor Internet - Virgo

Victor Internet (formerly Victor!) created such a mellow track that I identify with fully. My birthday is in December but I act like a Virgo, too.

Dayglow - Can I Call You Tonight?*

I love bedroom pop and this song is so dreamy and smooth. It’s a pick me up after some of those sadder ballads above.

Collin Selman - dayDREAM

This is a hazy dayDREAM for sure. Collin’s vocals are beautifully melded within this track.

ALASKALASKA - Meateater*

This song is so great as a result of its funky instrumentals and moody beats! If you’re a fan of slenderbodies then you will truly enjoy this song.

Running Touch - Make Your Move*

This is a fun electronic song with a great danceable beat. Throw this on when you’re coasting down the highway or getting ready for a chill night out.

Bas & EARTHGANG - Jollof RicE*

This song has me craving Jollof Rice but it is also a really great song featuring my favorite group: EARTHGANG.

young thug & gunna - Surf*

One of my favorite songs from Young Thug’s most recent album! It’s so easy going and wavy.

Megan thee Stallion, Ty Dolla $ign & Nicki Minaj - Hot Girl Summer*

One truly can’t end summer without an ode to hot girl summer. I really love the city girls reference and the lyrics.

Rory Fresco & Kid Ink - Magic

Another up tempo song for the end of summer.

Davido & Chris Brown - Blow My Mind*

A tropical beat to close out August. This song is the best of dance hall and R&B.

Melii & A Boogie Wit da Hoodie - HML

This track is perfect for summer and I absolutely love Melii and A Boogie.

Saba, Xavier OmÄr & mick jenkins - Stay Right Here

This song has beautiful vocals from Xavier Omär and a sweet message. It’s reminiscent of older Chance the Rapper tracks.

As August comes to a close, I hope that these songs are enjoyable and that you find your new favorite. Get ready for September because I have a ton of new content and playlists for you to peruse.
